Ha ha Matty, I like it.
Great STRENGTH IN DEPTH
Journeyman Australian club player scores a century for English county side while the Worlds Greatest Short Form player sees Lancashire home in the t20. While PISSED

If his intention was to end the international careers of Ahmed, Watson & Siddle he may have been a bit late.
Obviously a pointless game given the series is decided. In hindsight a break and a county game may have suited Australia better after the THIRD Test but to be honest they have batted so poorly I am not sure that would have made any difference.

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
A Crook from Australia embarrasses his native friends while working in England.

Steven Crook smashed 142 not out from 96 balls as Australia wilted at Wantage Road.

Northants racked up nearly 400 in a day and still had time to prize out the wicket of David Warner before the close.

Crook effectively ended the careers of Watson, Ahmed and Siddle as he hit them from Northampton to Kettering and back again.

Only Cummins and Marsh were allowed to be protected by only bowling at the tailenders. Cummins in particular was smashed to all parts early doors by Scottish superstar Kyle Coetzer.

Australia ended the day on 13-1 and exposed Smudger Smith to the new ball again. A poor morning session could see the Aussies face a 2 defeat against a side missing Olly Stone, Alex Wakely, Azarullah, Rory Kleinveldt and David Willey.

So, our rugby team is better than everyone else, and our airline is better than everyone else, and our airline ads featuring our rugby team are better than everyone else.

Hattrick.

Kent's cruel exit has cheered me up no end.

Topped their group by three clear points.

Did a great job of defending 142 which was a half decent total given the trouble they were in at one stage.

Took two wickets in the final over.

Out on a tied game by virtue of the fact that Lancashire lost fewer wickets.

Tries not to chortle too much...

That rugby advert is appalling
Takes 5 mins to say put on your seatbelt

Almost as bad as India's batting

1st Test: Sri Lanka v India at Galle
Sri Lanka 183 & 367
India 375 & 112 (49.5 ov)

Sri Lanka won by 63 runs

Herath 7/48

Australia beating NZ was news
Not sure NZ winning was
swt

Didn't see the match but I saw Aust left out Giteau and Pocock.
Presume that was on advice from the Samaritans suicide line in NZ?

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
Yes, I would have thought the pecking order was Ballance, Taylor and then maybe Vince.
Presuming England are going to continue with Lyth and give him the chance to come good they might fall back to someone like Carberry (who wasn't the worst in difficult circumstances in Aust) as a temporary reserve in SA.
If he is only going to be a backup I'd take someone like Lees if they see him as the long term player just to ease him in.

I am hoping Australia do the same thing with a proper opener like Cameron Bancroft rather than trying to shoe horn someone else in or continue with players without a future like S Marsh or Voges.

Dr Matt 11:06 Sat Aug 15
Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
Vince will probably be in the Limited overs squads this Winter, but he's way behind Ballance and Taylor for a Test place.

The opening position is the only concern as Lyth is as good as any of the other options. Lees is too young and not quite ready. Compers and Carberry have seen their ships sail. Which leaves the rather frightful thought of a make-shift option.

Sven Roeder 10:36 Sat Aug 15
Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
True that, though we will probably stick to picking players from Australia.
Am sure there will be plenty of time once the 5th Test is over but am sure players like Vince will be wondering where they are when England go to UAE & especially S Africa. I'm guessing Ballance is still next in line but they will have to settle on a third opener and another batsman or two.

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
Based on recent displays Id say those scores would make him this generations Bradman!

Certainly would look like him alongside Smudger and Marsho.
